Data Privacy and Security at WattWealth

How your energy data is handled – and how it is protected

As energy systems become smarter, data naturally becomes part of the solution.

At the same time, questions around privacy, security, and trust are entirely valid.

WattWealth is designed from the ground up to minimize data exposure, ensure transparency, and comply with strict European data protection standards.

This article explains what data WattWealth uses, what it does not store, and what is never shared.

1

What Data WattWealth Collects – and Why

WattWealth operates as an intelligence layer, not a monitoring or surveillance platform. The data we access is limited to what is strictly necessary to deliver smart battery control.

Inverter and Battery Data (via FoxESS Cloud)

WattWealth retrieves selected operational data from the FoxESS cloud, such as:

  • Battery state of charge
  • Battery capacity and limits
  • Inverter operating status
  • Historical charge/discharge capability

This data is used only to:

  • Forecast available battery flexibility
  • Generate the optimal battery charging and discharging plan for the next day
  • Ensure commands stay within safe technical limits

WattWealth does not directly connect to your inverter or local network.

Electricity Price and Tariff Information

To calculate economic optimization, WattWealth stores:

  • Your electricity price structure (spot price zone, fixed fees, taxes)
  • Your chosen energy contract parameters

This allows the system to:

  • Translate market prices into real, household-specific costs
  • Optimize based on what you actually pay, not abstract spot prices

User Identification Data

WattWealth stores limited personal data required for service operation:

  • Name
  • Contact details
  • System identifiers (linked inverter account)

This data is used solely for:

  • User authentication
  • Account management
  • Customer support
2

What WattWealth Does Not Store

A core design principle of WattWealth is data minimization.

Specifically:

  • ❌ WattWealth does not locally store detailed household electricity usage profiles
  • ❌ WattWealth does not build long-term consumption behavior models
  • ❌ WattWealth does not track appliance-level usage
  • ❌ WattWealth does not monitor presence, habits, or lifestyle patterns

Energy usage data is accessed only when needed to calculate battery control decisions and is not retained as a historical behavioral dataset.

3

What Data Is Never Shared

WattWealth does not sell, trade, or share user data.

Your data is never shared with:

  • Advertisers
  • Energy retailers
  • Grid operators
  • Third-party analytics platforms
  • Other installers or manufacturers

FoxESS remains the system manufacturer.

WattWealth acts independently and does not forward user data back into commercial profiling systems.

4

Where Your Data Is Stored

All WattWealth data is stored exclusively on servers located in Stockholm, Sweden.

This ensures:

  • Full compliance with GDPR
  • Data residency within the EU
  • Protection under Swedish and European data privacy law

No data is stored outside Europe.

5

Security by Design

WattWealth follows modern security best practices, including:

  • Encrypted communication with cloud services
  • Role-based access controls
  • Secure authentication mechanisms
  • Strict separation between user identity data and operational data

Access to systems is limited to authorized personnel only, and solely for operational or support purposes.

6

Transparency as a Long-Term Commitment

Trust is not created by promises, but by architecture.

WattWealth is intentionally designed to:

  • Use as little data as possible
  • Keep data close to the user
  • Remain independent from commercial energy interests

Your battery should work for your economy, not someone else’s data strategy.
